This thing is awesome! Really fun to flip through and get practical tips on real life situations. As a father of a lot of boys, this is a great discussion piece and a resource for me to raise boys who have a real idea of how to act like a real man.

Gave a copy to each of my sons. The book reinforces some lessons I taught and it covers many that I did not. I asked them to use it with their children to teach and to keep open a line for communications. I can't wait to try the jumping out of a moving car.

Another outstanding product from Brett McKay. A great book to have on your coffee table or give as a gift to a father or graduate. The Art of Manliness continues to put out nothing but solid content. Highly recommend getting a copy.

Love the book. It's in my living room by the couch. People pick it up and thumb through it, inevitably they comment and start a discussion about some topic in there. Full of great advice, practical tips, and is well illustrated to boot.

To be honest, I thought this book would be kind of cheesy, but much to my surprise it's packed with a lot of great information. This should be one tool every parent should have who's tasked with raising boys.

More great work from AoM... I was stoked to see the new illustrations in addition to the older ones. I've given three away as gifts already (very well receive) but can't bring myself to give away my copy... I'll need to buy some more I guess.

I've been following the Art of Manliness website for over 5 years. As soon as I found out Brett was releasing an illustrated book I knew I had to have it. Even though the book is aimed toward men of all ages, I find there are many useful things I can learn from it as a woman. I suppose I'm not your average lady but I really enjoy learning and this book is perfect for that. Thanks for continuing to share all your tips and how to's!

I've been a fan of Brett McKay's blog and podcast, but I'm also a huge fan of hard copy. This book is a necessary addition to any well rounded collection. Keep it near, you never know when you'll need manly advice.

This entire series should be mandatory reading for every single young man in the nation. Our schools are woefully inadequate in disseminating the required information this gives for a successful adulthood. You want to avoid having your boy become a school manipulated SNOWFLAKE? Read this to him when he's young then read them WITH him as he enters middle school. By high school, you won't have to worry about him for the rest of his life. I speak as a former US Army Officer, former Law Enforcement Officer and as a Social Studies EDUCATOR nearing retirement.

Great coffee table book. My daughters find it fascinating. There are many fun, handy things to learn, at least superficially. I just need to remind them that most of it has nothing to do with manliness.

The Art of Manliness website and podcast has been offering advice, tips, and guidance to men on a wide variety of practical skills from chopping firewood to shining shoes to jump-starting a car to escaping zip-tie handcuffs and giving a manly handshake. Often on the website, these skills are taught through illustrated guides showing step-by-step instructions with easy-to-follow and classic-looking pictures. They've deliberately patterned them after drawings like those found in old Boys' Life magazines. This current book brings together dozens of these guides and adds some new ones to the mix.

The book is entertaining and informative, full of stuff I already knew and stuff I was dying to know (walking like a ninja is way cooler than walking like an Egyptian (sorry, Bangles)). It both reads quickly and is easy to jump in and out of--if you are like me, the kids are always interrupting reading time.

Highly recommended.

If you are a man, or if you know a man, this book is for you. And if you don't know a man who needs this book, you don't know any men. Once you have given a copy of this book to every man you know, you should buy extra copies to leave lying around. Men will naturally gravitate toward this book, so if you are short on men, you can leave a copy out in your yard. The next thing you know, you will have attracted a whole tribe of men in your yard, all gathered around this book doing manly things.

Buy a copy and give it to the least manly man you know. The next thing you know, he'll be more manly.

Buy a copy and leave it under someone's bed. Sleeping next to this book will make them more manly.

You don't even need to give it to a man. You can give it to a woman. She is a woMAN, after all. Note: giving this book to a woman may make her more manly than you are.

Loaded with all the skills that a man (or person, really, but Team Masculine members will really get a kick out of it) needs, this book is a great primer on lots of useful skills across a variety of domains. The book is conveniently divided into themes, and has bite-size sections that are short reads and serve as great conversation starters.

Put it on your coffee table, your desk at work, or your toilet. This book is classy enough to be featured in serious environments and jovial enough to be accessible to anyone. The tone is serious, jovial, and respectful, making this book a great gift for any age.

My only regret is that I didn't get the signed copy... that would have been even manlier.

I've been a long-time listener to the AOM podcast and really enjoy the vintage illustrations on the website. I recently gave this as a gift to a buddy of mine who just had his first son. He was so pumped to get this book to read to his little man and had nothing but positive things to say. I'll probably start buying this for all my friends when they have boys. It's a cool gift for the aspiring manly man (once they're able to read). Brett McKay is a 5-srat guy, and this is a 5-star book.

I own both the hardcover and the Kindle Edition and I really appreciate the craftsmanship that went into making the hardcover. It's well worth the money and I keep it my by "Loo Literature" holder in the bathroom... :)

The book is divided by category so you can go to whichever category that you feel like learning about. Really well put together book and I highly recommend it

No longer living in a world where manly advice and skills are passed from father to son, Brett McKay offers a concise, well-illustrated, and entertaining primer for so many manly skills. Everything from personal decorum to survival skills is covered. Sometimes I wonder if I'll ever find myself in a position to throw myself from a moving vehicle, but if I do then I'll have the Art of Manliness to thank for having some idea how to do it safely(ish).

This is a great practical guide for men to grow and develop within each role that they may have throughout their life. The book is full of useful tips and advice on a variety of important subjects, along with some fun and hilarious topics as well. I've long been a fan of the Art of Manliness site, and this book is a worthy companion to the other books that Brett and Kate McKay have put out in the past. I definitely recommend picking a copy up!

When life throws challenges, every man needs to have the knowledge to handle those challenges. The author has taken tons of scenarios that a man might encounter such as how to survive a bear attach or run a great meeting and paired them with illustrations to make learning fun and easy.

My husband and son loved reading this book. My pre-teen son especially enjoyed it and kept sharing things with me as he read it. The list of things that are included are varied, the illustrations really help tie everything together. I was really impressed with some of the things covered and how well they were explained. While surviving a bear attack is something that might not every happen to the normal man, learning to swaddle a baby or be a gentleman is definitely a requirement. Enjoyed the book and loved watching my son enjoy it as well. Would definitely recommend this as a gift for the gentleman in your life.

I received a copy of this book from Goodreads. All thoughts expressed are my own.

Very useful and elegant book. I've listened to Brett's podcast for years. The illustrations in this book are excellent. It will be a book I keep and reference for years. I opted to buy the autographed version from the AOM website. I'm a better man because of Brett.

I been waiting for this book to come out and I bought it as soon as it did. It has great pictures and very well written guides. I found one mistake were he forgot a space between words, but other than that the book is perfect.

Awsome! Almost everything a "real man" needs to know. "Almost" being that I was slightly disappointed that "roll starting a manual transmission car" was not included along with "jumping a car". Bought this for my 20 year old son to fill in the gaps that my parenting may have missed. For instance, not sure why but, instructions for "escaping duct tape restraints" weren't included in the Parenting Guides I used.

Brett McKay and Ted deliver again with this timeless book designed to teach you the skills and roles every man should learn. I love going through this book with my sons and practicing some of the skills they (and myself) haven't learned yet!

I've followed the Art of Manliness website for years (which is fantastic, by the way). This book is a great collection of knowledge and skills that every man should have at the ready. The book is especially helpful as a father; it provides a nice checklist of lessons to teach my son (and daughter, for that matter). My 8-year-old boy asks everyday to read about a new skill, and it has been fun to watch him put them into practice as he interacts with others! I have no doubt that the things we learn in this book will impact myself and my kids for the better.

My wife gave me this book for Father's Day and I am thrilled with the product. It is a great addition to the AoM library, fully delivering once again in terms of quality and content. The drawings are well done and entertaining, making for an engaging read. The topics in the book range from the practical everyday to the rare and far reaching, but all will leave you wanting to be a better, more prepared and capable man. I would recommend this book, as well as any AoM product, to any man.

I am regular reader of AOM posts and Brett really knows the stuff he is talking about. In the world where manliness is becoming an extinct art, Brett is teaching boys to be Men. A Wonderful book, a must have and must read for the Men who care to be men.

Great advice on things ranging from leadership skills to being a great family man.
Fantastic skills such as useful knots and tool use.
The writing is easy to follow, and the illustrations compliment the words well.
Picked up a copy for me and my father, and can't wait to see what he thinks. Stay manly!
